This is indeed a sad day in the literary world. Nobody gets to live forever. The dream, though, is to create something that will. That's what Harper Lee did.

No book has moved me like "To Kill a Mockingbird" one that shaped my view of family, race & love. So well written and pregnant with volumes of undertones that I have re-read it a couple of times.Atticus, Scout, Jem, Boo, Tom Robinson etc. are  some of the most amazing people I ever met.

Moreover, it's  film adaptation was also superb.
Rest in peace, Harper Lee. You have left a beautiful & moving legacy.
She opened my eyes to the world of injustices. With her stroke of the pen, she illuminated the human condition and in the process, helped me and multitudes understand how suffering is brought about by man, how certain people stand up taller than others against this injustice well aware of the price they would pay in the process. It instilled in me a sense of duty to stand up against inequality and fight for those who may otherwise not have a voice.

“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us.
That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”
Thanks for singing your heart out on the page for us, Ms. Lee. your collaboration with your artistic placement of words, set on paper have created mystery, suspense. Then drew us into an unbridled abandonment of ones binding prejudices and bigotry.

.....as gently and intelligently as Atticus Finch taught Scout- “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”  Your wisdom shaped my young mind as much as anything.

There are two people in life that you will never forget; A teacher who changes your life and an author who changes your life. She is in my thoughts and prayers.I'm sure that there is a giant magnolia tree for her to rest under in heaven

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD:MY BOOK REVIEW
"To kill a mockingbird" is not a "portrait of life", it's a snapshot of time, which will grow and age only in your imagination. You will make it what you need it to be. Once you start reading, it has an underlying curiosity that pushes you through the pages. You enjoy it so much while you read through the breezy story. Once we are done, we think, it's just another book. what different did it have? This explains the author's intelligence in making a script appealing enough to hold the readers till the end. [ I have laid my hands on some interesting books which I could not finish and might never]
We are so much used to the drastic and eccentric suspense, that it's finally difficult to accept a neat, classical one. The primary dividing line in this book is not one of the race but is rather one of the good people versus bad people - something that, of course, Atticus and the children can discern effortlessly.

The characters are one dimensional. Calpurnia is the Negro who knows her place and loves the children; Atticus is a good father, wise and patient; Tom Robinson is the innocent wronged; Boo is the kind eccentric; Jem is the little boy who grows up; Scout is the precocious, knowledgeable child. They have no identity outside of these roles. The children have no guile, no shrewdness--there is none of the delightfully subversive slyness that real children have, the sneakiness that will ultimately allow them to grow up. Jem and Scout will be children forever, existing in a world of black and white in which lacking knowledge allows people to see the truth in all of its simple glory.
I actually found it difficult in reading the initial four chapters since she has used sharp words.Anyway after getting indulged with it, I could get a pace to read. The most interesting thing is that at one point, we consider the story to be completed.indeed, it continues, linking the climax things with the initial chapters. That was really awesome.
This is a book that you should read on the bench in the park, forgetting the world around. You swift through the pages and with a smile on your face once you have completed the book.
